DRC protest outside Luthuli House

They expressed outrage at the announcement of what they called "false" early election results. Figures released by the DRC on Friday showed that incumbent President Joseph Kabila was leading with 52% of votes while opposition leader Etienne Tshisekedi had 32% of the vote.
"This is at odds with results posted at individual polling stations following election day," Willy Vangu, the president of the Union pour la Democratic et le Progres Social, said at a news conference in Johannesburg. 24-Hour Porn Channel Launching in January

24-Hour Porn Channel Launching In January
Astra 4A satellite, the same satellite used by TopTV, will launch Porn Satellite TV, or PSat, across the country in January 2012. The 24-hour adult entertainment channel will be broadcast from outside of South Africa’s jurisdiction, which means South African authorities can do little to prevent it from traversing the airwaves.
The service is going to offer hardcore pornography aimed at heterosexual viewers, and anyone with a TopTV dish will be able to receive the service, but they’ll have to rent a separate decoder to view it because it won’t form part of the TopTV bouquet. [2oceansvibe]

Selebi Too Sick To Go To Prison

The disgraced former national police commissioner, who is out on bail of R20000, was to have reported to Johannesburg prison at 10am yesterday to begin his 15-year sentence for corruption.
But Selebi, 61, was admitted to Jacaranda Hospital, Pretoria, on Friday, shortly after collapsing at his home in the wealthy suburb of Waterkloof.
The former chief of international policing agency Interpol collapsed after the Supreme Court of Appeals dismissed his appeal against his conviction and sentence. He was given 48 hours in which to report to prison, which expired at 10am yesterday. [Timeslive]

"I was thinking about my funeral a couple of days ago," West said.
"The people I want to be there are like world leaders. Ones that say, 'Kanye gave me my first shot, he told me to believe in myself'."
But West admitted he didn't have long to acheive his goal. [nzHerald]

Selebi Collapses as he hears Judgement

Guilty! That's the message the Supreme Court of Appeal judges sent to the country's disgraced former top cop on Friday.

Jackie Selebi, once South Africa's national police commissioner, failed to have his corruption conviction set aside in a judgment handed down in Bloemfontein, and has to report to prison within 48 hours.

"There can therefore be no question that the State succeeded in proving the guilt of the appellant beyond reasonable doubt and the court a quo was justified in convicting the appellant of corruption. [
