JuJu’s Favourite Tune Deemed Hate Speech

JuJu’s Favourite Tune Deemed Hate Speech

In a recent ruling by Judge Colin Lamont, “Dubula Ibhunu”, also known as “shoot the boer”, has been deemed hate speech. Lamont, who is presiding over Julius Malema’s hate speech trial, also made it clear that the Equality Act was put in place to protect all groups in a country, and in this case, more specifically, minorities. Sorry JuJu. Not.
Lamont also stated that at that time South Africa was still a country going through transformation, and that:
“The constitution and the related legislation… Provided framework used to alleviate and overcome the friction resulting from change.”
In court he illustrated a brief history of the struggle and named numerous international treaties signed by SA to prevent genocide. With the ruling behind him, Lamont will now be looking at the songs themselves and why some people may find them offensive.
I wonder if it has anything to do with 10 000 angry ANCYL followers singing a song that calls for the murder of a minority?
I dunno, just a stab in the dark.
Malema was apparently not in the courtroom while the ruling took place.
