8 years in jail for a crime he didn't commit





"I am vindicated. They have to compensate me, but I don't believe the compensation will erase the hurt that I suffered," he said.
Peter Matlala, 48, was sentenced to life after being arrested for a pension point payout robbery in Brits in 2001.
And now, after spending eight years in jail, three judges of the Supreme Court of Appeals in Bloemfontein have acome to a different conclusion, saying Matlala was in fact innocent. [Sowetan]
