R30m facelift for airport to increase flights

KWAZULU-NATAL’S Prince Mangosuthu Airport has received a R30 million facelift after years of neglect that left it dilapidated.
The upgrade will see the airport, situated in Ulundi, running scheduled flights from Ulundi to Pietermaritzburg in January next year, and later between Ulundi to Joburg.
The airport has been under-utilised since the termination of government subsidised flights in 2003.
KwaZulu-Natal premier Zweli Mkhize said at that time the province did not have enough money to run two cities as capitals.[IOL]
