President Jacob Zuma has revealed there was a plot to have him assassinated when he was still the deputy president, but said the plot was thwarted due to the loyalty of some of his bodyguards who refused to be coerced into the plan.
Zuma said this in Umbumbulu, south of Durban, when addressing hundreds of mourners at the funeral of Captain Patrick “Sho” Maphumulo, whom he said was one of those bodyguards who refused to be drawn into the plotters' plan. [News24]
