According to the medium-term budget policy statement tabled in parliament yesterday by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, Zuma's office incurred R37.5-million in "unforeseeable and unavoidable" expenditure in this financial year.
The medium-term budget did not include a breakdown of the R20-million in legal costs - whether the money was for fees for legal advice or for court cases in which the Presidency had been involved.
Zuma was dragged into court over his decision to extend the term of retired chief justice Sandile Ngcobo. It was challenged in the Constitutional Court by pressure groups.[Timeslive]
