Somebody Really Wants That Kim K Tape Off The Market

Somebody Really Wants That Kim K Tape Off The Market

The sex tape that made Kim Kardashian, well, Kim Kardashian has a bidder who desperately wants it off the market.  It’s been mere days since Kim’s marriage to Kris Humphries, and an anonymous buyer now suddenly wants Vivid Entertainment’s rights to the infamous 2007  tape of her and Ray J.  And those rights ain’t cheap.
In much the same way that it didn’t cost nothing to take Kim off the market (how many squillions did that wedding cost?), it’s been revealed that removing the tape from the public domain will cost the mystery bidder no less than $30-million.  That will also buy all additional footage that was not included on the DVD.
I love that Kimmy is trying to stay anonymous here.  It’s so sweet (and unusual) for her to remove herself entirely from her own publicity stunt.  Genius move.

The Dalai Lama Wants To Hang With Des Tutu On His Birthday

The Dalai Lama Wants To Hang With Des Tutu On His Birthday

His Holiness the Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama has applied for a South African visa to visit Desmond Tutu on the Arch Bishop’s 80th birthday. Why does he need a visa? Because he was barred entry to South Africa in 2009 to ensure that ties with our key trade partner, China weren’t jeopardised.
The Dalai Lama is due to give a lecture as part of events to celebrate Tutu’s birthday on October 7. The following day, he will deliver the inaugural Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture in Cape Town. This event will not be open to the public.
Home affairs spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa said that they received his application yesterday: “We have confirmed receipt of the visa application by the Dalai Lama through our mission in New Delhi, India.”
In 2009, Desmond Tutu criticised South Africa’s barring of entry to his fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureate to attend a peace conference in Johannesburg, with the government saying that it did not want to jeopardise relations with China. Foreign minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane later said that the Dalai Lama was free to visit the country and that the decision had been poorly communicated.
Poorly. Indeed.

Chinese Tycoon Offers To Buy 0.3% Of Iceland

Chinese Tycoon Offers To Buy 0.3% Of Iceland

Huang Nubo, the sixteenth richest person in China, has offered $100 million to buy 300 square kilometres of Icelandic wilderness. He calls himself a “poet and adventurer,” so it would make sense that he’d want to buy the property to develop a golf course and tourist destination.
The area is known as Grímsstadir á Fjöllum, which is as good a name for a golf course, as any, I guess. It’s partially owned by the Icelandic government, which still needs to okay the deal; private landowners tempted by giant stacks of cash seem to have already accepted the agreement, however.
Icelandic nationalists (who knew?) suspect slightly more sinister motives, though:
Opponents have questioned why such a large amount of land – equal to about 0.3 per cent of Iceland’s total area – is needed to build a hotel. They warned that the project could provide cover for China’s geopolitical interests in the Atlantic island nation and Nato member. While home to just 320,000 people, Iceland occupies a strategically important location between Europe and North America and has been touted as a potential hub for Asian cargo should climate change open Arctic waters to shipping.

Doctor Secures Property With HIV-Infected Needles

Doctor Secures Property With HIV-Infected Needles

I’ll just leave this here: A female doctor from Brazil has reacted to the frequent robberies Sobardinho property by studding the walls around her property with HIV-infected needles to keep burglars away. We know this because she’s kindly put up a hand-written sign, saying “HIV positive blood. Do not trespass.”
The orthopaedist, who remains unnamed, is currently having her license reviewed by the region’s Medical Council, since it’s obviously a little bit insanely illegal for workers to take medical supplies from public hospitals.
There’s a video report over here.

“Millionaires Club” Advocates Case Commences Today

“Millionaires Club” Advocates Case Commences Today

In what has been deemed a landmark case starting today in the North Gauteng High Court, 13 advocates face being struck off the roll for allegedly sucking the Road Accident Fund dry through dodgy billing practices.
The group of lawyers, named the “Millionaires Club”, has been identified for double briefing and charging multiple fees from the RAF.  They include two senior counsel, one of whom has allegedly charged R11 million in legal fees in a ten-month period for close to 1,000 trials. That’s pretty phenomenal.
While the Pretoria Bar has already suspended and fined the errant members, many are calling for the Millionaires Club to be struck off the roll. The rather juicy case which got underway this morning will investigate the legal fraternity’s ability to self-regulate.

ANCYL Promises Disciplined Supporters Ahead Of Malema Trial

ANCYL Promises Disciplined Supporters Ahead Of Malema Trial

Hundreds of people have been gathering this morning outside the ANC Youth League headquarters in Johannesburg, following the league’s promise that supporters would behave well in the lead up to Julius Malema’s disciplinary hearing.  Rubber bullets have already been used by police to contain the crowd.  Twitter is alive with reports of violence and mayhem going down.
A tweet by journalist Cedric Mboyisa earlier said, “Police are now firing rubber bullets.  It’s war out here.  A bottle just missed me.”
Meanwhile, chairperson of the ANCYL’s Tsakane branch, Thepelo Khumalo, said in advance, “We will not cause confrontation with police…we are staying together united and disciplined.  We are not going to break anything”.
League members converging around Thelepo said they did not believe that Zuma was going against Malema, in spite of the charges brought against him and Floyd Shivambu.  Nevertheless, there are clearly some very disgruntled supporters out there.  And this picture, tweeted by Mboyisa (@SApolitics1), shows Juju supporters burning an ANC T-shirt featuring Zuma’s face.

Fraudster Chose The Wrong Yacht

Fraudster Chose The Wrong Yacht

Not sure if you caught the article in the Sunday Times about Dean Rees, who ran a ponzi scheme which sucked in and spat out the likes of former Pick n Pay CEO, Sean Summers. You can read the article here, if you missed it. So anyway, he has run off to Switzerland, where he continues the starring role in his make believe game. That’s until the task team investigating him get their ducks in a row and get him extradited to face the music back in South Africa.
Not that we should focus too much on the fraud here.
It mentioned in the article that he had a Ferrari 599 and also hired a yacht to celebrate his wife’s birthday in St. Tropez, back in 2008. The Sunday Times reported that he spent R500,000 a day hiring it out, although the charter website reckons the yacht goes for around € 175,000 a week (around R1.8million). That works out to around R250,000 a day, by my calculations.
And judging by the pictures on the yacht charter website, old Deano did himself a great injustice by hiring the yacht, Tommy. Besides the fact that the furniture is kak, there was another yacht on the same website for sale, which was far more desirable. At €49,000,000 (half a billion Rand), allow me to introduce you to “April Fool.”

One of the lounges on the yacht, ‘April Fool’
Now we all know the phrase “If it floats, flies, or f*cks, rent it” – which is the phrase often used by wealthy people, but rarely used by billionaires. That’s because billionaires simply buy yachts like the one above. Instead of dicking around renting yachts with rubbish furniture.

Africa’s Richest Man on “MTV Meets…”

Nigerian Dangote, 54, has a lot to teach African youth about entrepreneurship:  according to a recent issue of prestigious US publication, Forbes Magazine, the self-made billionaire is now the richest man in Africa and the 51st richest person in the world – with a net worth of US $13.8 billion.
Starting with relatively humble beginnings in 1977 thanks to a loan from his wealthy uncle, Dangote has since built one of Africa’s largest conglomerates, employing more than 12,000 people.  While cement remains the most prized jewel in his crown, Dangote’s sphere of influence now spans sugar, oil & gas, transportation, banking and textiles, exporting, importing, manufacturing, real-estate and philanthropy, among others.
Putting Dangote on the spot at Lagos’ Eko Hotel were Nigerian investment banker and MBA student J.G. Ayodele; Zimbabwean born US based Public Administration Masters student Farayi Chipungu;  photographer Yomi Black from Lagos and Liberian singer Jerrilyn.

In each episode of MTV Base Meets…with MTN, African youth are given the opportunity to meet and questionAfrica’s political, cultural and business leaders. Among the interviewees involved in the series to date have been music legend Hugh Masekela, UK businessman Richard Branson, Nigerian media mogul Ben Murray Bruce, South African politician Julius Malema, Liberian President Madame Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

Mechanic Joyrides And Crashes Client’s R3,5 Million Ferrari F40

Mechanic Joyrides And Crashes Client’s R3,5 Million Ferrari F40

An American mechanic took a client’s classic Ferrari F40 for a spin in Texas last week. Unfortunately he lost control of the 20-year-old supercar and smashed it into a fence. He survived, but somehow I don’t think that helps his case much. Police felt it necessary to also mention that speeding was involved before the accident.
The car’s original tyres are also being blamed for the accident, and because the chassis has been damaged it is believed it is now a write-off.
Here is eyewitness, Travis Brown:
I don’t know how fast he was going but I could hear the turbos spooling on the car. Next I know I heard tyre squealing, then he jumped the curb and hit the fence.

Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith deny reports they are splitting

It took them a while, but Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith finally responded Tuesday afternoon to an InTouch Weekly magazine report claiming the high-profile Hollywood power couple had split.
Only a few hours after Jada Pinkett Smith’s publicist said her client “has nothing to say right now” — usually the kind of comment made prior to a breakup confirmation — the couple issued a statement denying they were ending their marriage.
“Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false,” the couple said in their statement.
“We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”[suntimes]

Malema’s Private Jet And The EuroMillions Lottery

If you caught this weekend’s Sunday Times you will know all about the private jet that Julius Malema flies around in. You know – the jet that belongs to his buddy, who gets tenders from Jules. Fraud and corruption aside, I just wanted to chat about the jet itself. People seem to get very excited about any private jet that comes along – when there is very often nothing to make a fuss about. ESPECIALLY in this case, when you’re dealing with a Cessna Citation 500.

Sunday Times confirmed the plane was worth R18 million, which is somewhat spicy, given that most of the Cessna Citation 500s out there were made in the 1970s (production ran from 1971 to 1985) and are sold second-hand for between $500,000 and $800,000 (R5.7 Million). So that’s all you’re really dealing with – if you wanted to get one – five or six bar. There are some good cars that sell for a similar price.
Now when we discuss winning “the lottery,” private jets and private islands inevitably come up. And when we’re talking about the local South African lottery (upcoming jackpot is R5 million), I wonder how many people realise that the jackpot is hardly in the league of our dreams. So, if you’re lucky, you can buy a second hand jet like the one Juju flies in. And that’s before you have to buy petrol and pay for a pilot. And, while we’re at it, what are you actually getting? Check out these pics of the same model plane:

Seriously, what is that? What am I supposed to do with that?
On top of it, this thing is only good for trips around South Africa. It has a maximum range of 2,250km so you can go from Cape Town to Johannesburg and back. Don’t expect to jet off to New York at the drop of a hat – unless you plan on organising some Top-Gun-style mid-air refueling vibes. Even to Paris, this thing would have to be re-fueled four times. Not really the vibe we’re after, Im sure you will agree.
And that, my friends, is why we play the overseas lotteries. The most recent jackpot win was R1.8 Billion – a charming chubby couple from Scotland. Now that’s the kind of money we need to get proper jets. Jets that can take us to New York in one go. Jets that we can sleep in. Like the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) which, second hand, is around $68 million. In Rands that is about R500 million. Which is a very realistic proposition if you win the likes of the Euromillions or US Powerball lotteries when they’ve rolled over a few times..

So if you want to play with Malema and their little girl jets, then keep playing the local lottery.
But if you want really useful jets – the jets that we’re really dreaming about – then you need to enter the overseas lotteries.
We do – every week.
Today’s Euromillions lottery jackpot, for example, is R756 million.
And you can buy your tickets safely and securely online at www.2oceansvibelottos.com
The chances of winning are small. But they’re even smaller without a ticket ;-)

PETA – How Vegans Will Invade Porn

PETA – How Vegans Will Invade Porn

The website will be full XXX, but here’s the twist, the porn will be coupled with graphic images of mistreated animals. With previous campaigns seeing the likes of Ron Jeremy and Jenna Jameson, this isn’t exactly shocking. Just weird. Now I can think of a few other words to make with the P, the T and the A.
Apparently the porn site will illustrate the horror of life for animals on factory farms, and promote a vegan lifestyle. It will also feature pictures and video shot undercover by the group’s hidden camera investigations.
Critics are have had a go at them in the past, claiming that their methods of protecting animals come at the cost of exploiting women.[2oceansvibe]

Gold Diggers’ Memorandum

I often hear people going off at how certain people are gold-diggers and that these people are not willing to work for their money.
People that hate gold-diggers state that they do not understand how someone can be content with leeching off someone’s hard earned money and not do anything with their lives to earn a living.  Society teaches us that we need to dedicate our lives to work and earn our living. Anything outside of that is shunned upon. If you are born into a wealthy family, you will struggle to gain the respect of general society because apparently it is wrong to be born with an advantage. Should you fall in love with a man who is wealthy, you will struggle to earn society’s respect because it is wrong to spend someone else’s money, why don’t you have your own?

Malema camp to fight Zuma over suspension

ANC Youth League leaders are plotting to fight back against President Jacob Zuma in a bid to stave off disciplinary charges that may see Julius Malema suspended from the ruling party.

"There is a debate right now about what should happen," a youth league leader close to the discussions told the Sunday Times yesterday.
"There is a plan that Julius should defy (and not attend the hearing) or go to the disciplinary hearing with the entire membership," the leader said. "We should all be charged. The plan is to isolate him. He was speaking on behalf of the membership (when he made comments about Botswana)."[Timeslive]

Floyd Shivambu Also Charged

BREAKING NEWS: Floyd Shivambu Also Charged

Floyd Shivambu
The news broke earlier today that the ANC will charge Julius Malema for infringing upon the ANC’s constitution. The party spokesperson Keith Khoza has now confirmed that Floyd Shivambu will also be charged with bringing the ANC into disrepute and sowing divisions. Shivambu is the current ANC Youth League spokesperson.
Malema recently said the league would send a team to Botswana to consolidate local opposition parties and help bring about regime change, as it believed the government there was “in full co-operation with imperialists” and was undermining the “African agenda”. The ANC reacted angrily to the comments, publicly rebuking the youth league.
The league responded to this, saying it did not believe it was in the wrong or going against ANC policy. It expressed disappointment at being publicly rebuked before the matter had been internally discussed. On Saturday, however, faced with the prospect of being disciplined, the ANCYL withdrew the statement on Botswana and apologised to the ANC.
Clearly this was too little, too late.

5 People Who Need To SHUT UP!

*puts on MOM dress*
1. Hush Club Management and whoever manages their Twitter account

Whoever is running the account needs to have their fingers chopped off. You are doing more damage than good. At this point, whether Minnie was wrong or not doesn’t matter to me as a neutral outsider. What matters is that a woman was assaulted in your institution during Woman’s month and instead of taking responsibility, you guys are labeling her a liar and suggesting she’s xenophobic. Maybe she is… but she didn’t assault herself. Someone did. Maybe not an employee of yours but it happened on your watch. The damage has been done, she suffered, your name has been tainted somewhat but I believe you can still fix this.
Call Minnie in, better yet, go to her, sit down with her and apologise for this mess. Pay her doctor’s fees back the same way you were willing to pay for her alcohol. Right now your potential and current clients are waiting for your reassurance that such an incident will not happen again and that they are safe in your club. Something that your arrogant statement failed to do. Please behave like a business, not like a spoilt child with pride and ego, as displayed by your Official Tweets.

2. Khanyi Mbau

The self proclaimed Queen of Bling took to twitter to tell Theunis Crous to stop calling her.

Khanyi also tweeted a “screen capture” of Theunis’ number to prove that she indeed got a call from him.
Khanyi sisi, this was not necessary. If you don’t want to speak to Theunis anymore then tell him you don’t want to speak to him, don’t tell us. Whether or not you really meant it when you said he shouldn’t call you, posting this on Twitter screams “I want attention”. I understand how Twitter can pull you in and make you want to share details of your life, damn, I suffer from that too so I can overlook this.. BUT Your tweets to Primrose? LOW!

If her husband is the one who called you because “he still wants you back” as your tweet suggests, why harass Primrose about it on Twitter? As someone who likes you, I am disappointed by this behaviour. Especially because you have been giving off this image of “I’ve changed, I’ve grown, I’m a new person”... I guess this proves that the change has to happen inside first because if’ that’s the case, such slip ups won’t happen.
And whoever is doing your PR or is your manager, Please tell them I said they’re USELESS. They shouldn’t be allowing such things to happen, especially given this new image we are being sold.
Now calm down sisi and count to 10 before you try post another Twitter Expose. Rather tell us when your book is coming out, kudala silindile.

3. Primrose and Theunis Crous

So you guys are going to JUMP every time Khanyi says JUMP?
Would it have killed you to just ignore her tweets and discuss them between the two of you and those who matter in your lives?  I’ve said this before and I will REPEAT:
You cannot control what Khanyi says about you, you can’t control what people assume based on what she says, you cannot change our perceptions that you two are a childish couple who enjoy the attention you get from all this but what you CAN do is to work on your relationship, your marriage and make sure that it is not shaken again.
Work on your union, that’s what mattters. If you’re gonna go around trying to put out the fires Khanyi lights up on TWITTER (not even in your HOME), then you are going to be very busy because after Khanyi it will be someone else. Now please, IGNORE Khanyi, block her, mute her on Twitter (tip: mute her name and mute her again as a keyword), so that you never get to see anything said about her or by her on that network. Even if those silly twitter people tag you on her tweets.

Twitter twits get it all wrong on Menzi Ngubane

Menzi Ngubane

Social networking site Twitter's dark side reared its ugly head yesterday morning, with rumours rapidly spreading on the site that Generations star Menzi Ngubane had died late on Tuesday night.

But in a press statement released yesterday morning the show's producers asked fans not to "hamper" his "steady return to health". Some of them had posted their condolences on the site.
Ngubane, who plays Sibusiso "Ngamla" Dlomo in the soapie, was admitted to hospital on August 6 and has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment since.
There had been speculation that Ngubane was suffering from a liver complaint.
Executive producer Mfundi Vundla said: "The actor is undergoing successful treatment and his condition has improved considerably.
"He will be in recovery for the next few weeks [and] his steady return to health is certain."
Dorcas Dlamini, a Twitter user and fan of the actor, who is also known for his role as Cijimpi in the old local TV series Kwa Khala, said: "Menzi Ngubane . *hoping & praying so hard it's just a really stupid and bad rumour*".[Timeslive]
