Gay Tim Cook To Take Over From Steve Jobs – The new CEO of Apple is Tim Cook, a man outed as gay who many expected would take over the job if Steve Jobs ever had to resign, as he did today. The company said the switch was made during a meeting of the board of directors and that Jobs had specifically advocated for Cook as his replacement. Apple Wins Ban On Samsung Smartphone Sales – Apple won an injunction in a Dutch court on Wednesday to stop Samsung Electronics from marketing three smartphone models in some European countries after alleging a breach of patents. Apple and Samsung are locked in a bruising patent fight in the United States, Europe and Asia, as they jostle for the top spot in the smartphone market after Nokia, the market leader for a decade, was ousted in the second quarter. Correct Spelling Of Gaddafi’s Name Finally Discovered - A new video of someone leafing through the passport  of Gaddafi’s eldest son Mohammed, reveals an interesting discovery: the spelling of Qaddafi’s name. A much-circulated 2009 ABCNews.com story found 112 different ways to render the Libyan leader’s last name. But, according to this passport, the accurate Latinized spelling is one of the least commonly used of those 112: Gathafi. Plettenberg Bay Surfer Dies After Shark Attack – A 49-year-old surfer died today after being attacked by a shark in Plettenberg Bay, about 500 kilometers (310 miles) east of Cape Town. The victim has been confirmed as local Plettenberg Bay resident and surfer, Tim van Heerden. Surfers who witnessed the attack said it may have been a great white shark about 2 meters (6.56 feet) in length. There have been several sightings by surfers of sharks in the same area. [bloomberg]
