Die Antwoord have split with major label Interscope, opting to release their upcoming album on their own indie label.

The band - made up of Yo-Landi, Ninja and their mysterious third member DJ HI-TEK - were signed on to Interscope and the Universal Music Group in 2010. Their debut album, $O$, was released on the label later in the year.

The reason for the split seems to be creative differences between Die Antwoord and Interscope, who wanted the group to steer their second album in a more mainstream direction.

Boing Boing and Billboard.biz quote them as saying in their online diary: "Interscope offered us a bunch of money again to release our new album TEN$ION.[Timeslive]
